STOP PRESS: Sniperley Park developers withdraw their appeals!

Both developers of the Sniperley Park site near Durham City have now formally withdrawn their appeals against the non-determination of their original proposals for the site.

The Inspector had refused permission for the developers’ later revisions to be considered within the appeals process, and there was considerable local support for Durham County Council’s resolve to ensure this crucial site becomes an “exemplar of design quality and sustainable development”.  The public inquiry will not go ahead and it is expected that the developers will submit new planning applications to the County Council within the next few months …. so, members need to be ready to scrutinise these!

Let’s hope the developers now rise to the challenge and submit plans for a truly sustainable, future-proof housing estate.
